BOOK DRIVE
WXEL TV & Boynton Reads, join forces to improve the literacy of young children with a two-month book drive from November 16, 2012 through January 8, 2013.
The kick-off is scheduled to be held November 16, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at WXEL TV Studios, 3401 S. Congress Ave. in Boynton Beach and will highlight the first donation of new books for the drive and a light reception for the partners supporting the Holiday Book Drive.

LOCAL STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE
IN NATIONAL STEM VIDEO GAME
CHALLENGE
Event encourages students and educators to build original games in support of STEM – science, technology, engineering and math – learning
To help promote participation in the 2012 National STEM Video Game Challenge, WXEL TV42 is hosting the “STEM Workshop: PBC Teens & Educators”. Science/Technology/Engineering/Math (STEM) will be the focus of workshop participants from Palm Beach County when developing video games for children ages 2 – 8 by the deadline of March 12, 2012. Supported nationally by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and PBS KIDS through the Ready To Learn Initiative, the contest being promoted by WXEL TV42 is inspired by the “Educate to Innovate Campaign, ”President Obama’s initiative to promote a renewed focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. The Challenge is an annual competition to motivate interest in STEM learning among America’s youth by tapping into students’ natural passion for playing and making video games. ...more...

Coast Earhtfest Celebration
The Mission of the Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast is to offer Children’s and families a place to explore and learn through hands on activities, educational programs and cultural experiences.
The Children’s Museum is dedicated to providing a safe state of the art environment where curiosity and self confidence are fostered.
Pahokee Reads!
Pahokee Reads was a free event for the community held at Pahokee Elementary School , the objective of this initiative was to educate parents about the importance of reading. The event was held on March 5, 2011.
Literacy Day 2010
WXEL and many other participants from all the Family Literacy Programs in Palm Beach County got together in Palm Beach Gardens to celebrate Literacy Day. The event's purpose is to encourage families to read together and promote education.

The Read Together Palm Beach County 2010 Finale featured a live interview from Australia with Markus Zusak, author of The Book Thief, and Palm Beach Dramaworks performed scenes from the book
Family Central - Hippy Annual Family Fun Day
ReadingTogether2010 - Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County Celebrates The Snowy Day by award-winning author Ezra Jack Keats. The preschoolers were also treated to an ice skating show as well as snow cones.
