12th Annual Women with Wings and Wisdom Luncheon "Friends of a feather flock together"

Attend a multi-national award winning event that honors local women and empowers local children while supporting education, the arts, sciences, non-biased news, community issues and life-long learning.

All of us who live in South Florida know that once a new season begins, invitations arrive to dozens of worthy events, benefiting numerous organizations in our community. WXEL wants to tell you why you should attend our 12th annual multi-national award winning luncheon and fashion show this season.

By attending this one event from your selection of invites you can support local at-risk children, the arts, education and life-long learning while honoring local women who are making a difference in our community, all in one afternoon.

Your attendance will help preserve WXEL as your community classroom affording your local PBS station the opportunity to air multi-generation educational, quality programming like Nova, The Roosevelts, Curious George and Sesame Street to over 5 million people from North Miami to the Sebastian Inlet. WXEL is more than just great television - we are a local educational resource that impacts South Florida by engaging in partnerships with local organizations. These partnerships
develop educational outreach initiatives that provide opportunities for life-long learning to our growing multi-cultural population.

As an advocate for the arts, you can attend this event knowing that your support enables WXEL to continue to provide front row seats to world-class arts performances to our local community. As America's largest stage WXEL's PBS programs present legendary artists and introduce new talents on programs like Great Performances, Live at the Met, and Live from Lincoln Center.

As an advocate for literacy you can attend this event knowing that you are helping WXEL to sustain PBS children's award winning educational programming, proven to be a vital educational tool for pre-school children. While parents and guardians are at work, WXEL provides a safe window to the outside world while giving local children the early childhood development skills they need to enter the public school system, ensuring that no child is left behind.

This season WXEL is honored to recognize the 2015 Women with Wings and Wisdom award recipients: Herme de Wyman Miro, Iris Apfel, Eddy Taylor and Kathryn Vecellio. In celebration of Sesame Street's 45th anniversary, the Women with Wings and Wisdom Leadership Committee set the theme “Friends of a Feather Flock Together” to help preserve educational programming locally and save a rare yellow bird found only on Sesame Street. WXEL is also honored to present the Women with Wings and Wisdom Lifetime Award to Catherine Robb, the granddaughter of Lady Bird and President Johnson who implemented the first bill for PBS funding.

Join Lead Sponsor/WXEL Trustee Dr. Nicholas V. Perricone and Fashion Presenters Bloomingdale's and the Gardens Mall on March 10, 2015 at the Mar-a-Lago Club for a fabulous luncheon, exciting silent auction and world-class designer runway fashion show. Debra Tornaben Event Founder said, "We hope you will attend our 12th annual Women with Wings and Wisdom “Friends of a Feather Flock Together” luncheon - it is sure to tickle your fancy".

Help save a rare yellow big bird found only on Sesame Street. Call 561-364-4402, make your reservations today and support WXEL - your local PBS station.
